Enter your total stake and the decimal odds for two or more selections. The calculator will estimate how to divide your stake to target a similar gross return if any one of the entered selections wins.
Important: This calculator provides mathematical estimates based on the stake and decimal odds entered. Dutching does not guarantee a profit or that any selection will win. The calculation also does not account for bookmaker-specific settlement rules, deductions, dead heats or changing odds. 18+ only. Gamble responsibly.
How to Use the Dutching Calculator
Enter the total amount you want to stake, then enter the decimal odds for each selection.
Use + Add Selection if you want to include more outcomes. Select Calculate Stakes and the calculator will estimate how your total stake can be divided across the selections to target a similar gross return whichever entered selection wins.
What Is Dutching in Betting?
Dutching is a staking calculation where a total stake is divided across two or more different selections.
Instead of placing the same amount on every selection, the stake allocated to each selection is adjusted according to its odds.
Lower-priced selections generally receive a larger portion of the stake, while higher-priced selections receive a smaller portion.
Dutching does not guarantee a profit. Whether the calculation produces a theoretical profit depends on the combined implied probability of the odds entered, and an actual return still requires one of the covered selections to win and settle accordingly.
Dutching Calculator Example
Suppose you want to divide R100 across three selections with decimal odds of:
Selection 1: 2.50
Selection 2: 3.50
Selection 3: 5.00
The calculator allocates approximately:
R45.16 at 2.50
R32.26 at 3.50
R22.58 at 5.00
The total stake remains R100.
These allocations target a gross return of approximately R112.90 if any one of those selections wins.
Because stakes are rounded to cents, the calculated return for each individual selection can differ slightly.
What Does Total Implied Probability Mean?
Implied probability converts decimal odds into a percentage using:
Implied Probability = (1 ÷ Decimal Odds) × 100
The Dutching Calculator adds the implied probabilities of all entered selections together.
Using odds of 2.50, 3.50 and 5.00, the combined implied probability is approximately 88.57%.
This is a mathematical figure derived from the entered odds. It does not predict the actual probability of the sporting outcomes occurring.
Can Dutching Guarantee a Profit?
No. Dutching is a method of allocating stakes; it does not guarantee a winning bet.
Even where the entered odds produce a positive mathematical return across the selections entered, the result depends on an entered selection winning and the bet being settled at the relevant odds.
There can also be outcomes that are not covered by your selections.
What Happens if None of My Selections Wins?
If none of the selections covered by the Dutching calculation wins, the stakes can be lost.
This is why the calculator should not be interpreted as a guaranteed-profit system.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many selections can I add?
The calculator supports two or more selections. Use the + Add Selection button when you need additional entries.
Why are the stakes different for each selection?
The stake is weighted according to the decimal odds. This allows the calculator to target approximately the same gross return across the entered selections.
Why are the potential returns not exactly identical?
Stake allocations are displayed in South African rand and rounded to cents. This can create small differences between the calculated returns.
Is Dutching the same as an accumulator?
No. With an accumulator, multiple selections are combined into one bet and generally all selections must win for the accumulator to succeed. Dutching divides a total stake across separate selections.
Can I use a Dutching calculator for South African bookmakers?
The mathematical calculation can be performed using decimal odds from bookmakers. Actual bet placement, accepted stakes, odds and settlement remain subject to the bookmaker’s applicable rules.
